india and china
Well i came across some interesting fact and would like to share it with u.I just came across that china's growth of 2008 was 9.6% and the present rate is also good and india's was 6.9% for 2008-2009 and present is estimated to be around 6% for the current fiscal year but you would be flabbergasted to know that in order to beat china we would need 25 years that also at growth rate of above 8%. What's the difference that created this disparity among both the countries?.Actually china opened up its economy in 1970 while we waited till 1991,they allowed FDI in some selected areas and turned that huge inflow of money in state owned enterprises. There growth was labor intensive and created good oppurtunities for the local but i think we still are sleeping because our growth is merely a fallacy as only 2% of the population contributes to GDP and a major portion is living below poverty line. This i also the main reason that we cannot have a legally binding agreement on emission cuts.

first of all thanks for enlightening me with such important knowledge. You know the main reason which has always refrained our country from progressing is lack of patriotism, there might be many reasons but this is one of them. Because our leaders lack this alacrity for their country, they are so reluctant to work for india while on the contrary chinese leaders seem to be patriotic if not chauvinistic they want china to be a known and developed country. This basic feeling on which depends everything indian leaders lack. If you love your country definitely you will work for it for its progress for its reputation and for its people.
ReplyDeleteYes...but u knw...another reason for this is that china is a dictatorship and we are a democracy...and in a democracy we have to give equal rights for all..then everybody wants a pay increase...everybody wants to praise its language...everybody wants a seperate state for himself...some parties want reform....some oppose it...and the paradox of all paradoxes is they were a part of the same government...now how can such a govt. take decisive steps towards the development of country?? If one person tries to do something then he has to face all kinds of restrictions we being a democracy...
ReplyDeleteWell...m not saying that democracy should be replaced by dictatorship...but one party should be given a clear mandate to run the country the way they like atleast for 5 years...if they fail they are bound to be replaced then but they should get the power to implement their policies in the first place for us to make some kind of progress...
Part 1
ReplyDeleteAmidst this act of bickering I am a little hesitant to speak in favour of my country. But I must try to some extent. India and China are not two comparable nations. This is backed by what Choudhry mentioned viz. the difference in governance. This Difference in governance is what has left China on a development spree, however superficially. The developments that are done in a country are for whom??? The people of course!! So what is the sense in having a high development rate and no freedom of thoughts for the people!!! We need not forget that we are able to write this article just because our country permits freedom for doing so. People are committing suicide in China, this premise will be opposed by others by stating the suicide of farmers of India.
Part 2
ReplyDeleteBut folks, if we compare the situation to that in previous years, we find that more people are leading better life. We are on the path of development. Now as far as opening the economy is concerned, in my opinion, had the nation done so in 1976 we'd have been crushed by the global peers. Since the 70's and 80's witnessed huge turmoil in the nation, which in turn caused the indegenous production to suffer. At that point of time, if the economy were open, we'd have surely become imperial slaves again. And as far as allowing a party to run the country is concerned, what if the party brings in reforms in law that brings out a situation like communism in china. Hence that type of governance gives rise to dictatorship. We are having the best governance in the entire world. The problem is only the loopholes
