india and china

Well i came across some interesting fact and would like to share it with u.I just came across that china's growth of 2008 was 9.6% and the present rate is also good and india's was 6.9% for 2008-2009 and present is estimated to be around 6% for the current fiscal year but you would be flabbergasted to know that in order to beat china we would need 25 years that also at growth rate of above 8%. What's the difference that created this disparity among both the countries?.Actually china opened up its economy in 1970 while we waited till 1991,they allowed FDI in some selected areas and turned that huge inflow of money in state owned enterprises.There growth was labor intensive and created good oppurtunities for the local but i think we still are sleeping because our growth is merely a fallacy as only 2% of the population contributes to GDP and a major portion is living below poverty line.This i also the main reason that we cannot have a legally binding agreement on emission cuts.
